Okolona ChiliFest 2025 Was One for the Books!
On Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, the heart of Okolona, Mississippi, came alive with the sights, sounds, and irresistible aromas of the annual Okolona ChiliFest. Hosted at the beloved Mini Park on Main Street, this year’s festival brought together neighbors, friends, and visitors for an evening filled with delicious chili, lively entertainment, and community spirit.
Meet the Master of Ceremonies
The event was expertly guided by MC Marcus Hearn, whose energy and humor set the perfect tone for the evening’s festivities.
Organizers and Sponsors
Okolona ChiliFest 2025 was made possible thanks to the dedication of the ChiliFest Committee, led by Brittany Rodger Vinson and the Okolona Area Chamber of Commerce Main Street Committee. This celebration of local flavor and talent would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors:
- Barnes Crossing Hyundai
- Pontotoc Food Fight
- AirHeadz Inflatables
- DJ Love Bone
- City of Okolona Production
- Okolona Fire Department
- Public Works Department
- Okolona Electric Department

Chili Contestants Bring the Heat
The highlight of ChiliFest was, of course, the chili cook-off. Local groups and individuals brought their best recipes to the table, creating an array of flavors that wowed attendees and judges alike. This year’s contestants were:
- Excel Commons
- Old Lady Margia Marley
- Gunn Family Farms (1st Place)
- PlainView Church (2nd Place)
- Crosby For 22 Campaign (3rd Place)
Honoring the Judges
Our panel of judges, comprised of Matt Hughes, Shakira Barfield, Jonnie Sims, and Honorary Judge Shaketa Brumby, faced the tough task of choosing the best chili from a lineup of mouthwatering entries. Their discerning taste and commitment helped make the contest a fair and flavorful competition.
Live Entertainment Lights Up the Evening
ChiliFest was more than just a taste adventure—it was a full-fledged celebration of local talent. Guests enjoyed gospel performances by Fredrick Suggs and Shakira Barfield, a moving musical tribute to Kimberly Adair, belly laughs from comedian Javan Pulphus, and smooth R&B tunes from Simply Joyce. The entertainment kept spirits high and the crowd smiling throughout the night.
Delicious Food Vendors
Beyond the chili cook-off, foodies flocked to Tom & Jakes Express Eatery, where a variety of festival favorites were served up hot and fresh. The aroma of great food mingled with laughter and music, creating a truly festive atmosphere.
